When people think of Arizona they often think of Highway Route 66, vast deserts and awe-inspiring monsoons they don’t necessarily think of wine, Rhône wines for that matter. Let’s change this perspective. We want you to think of high-altitudes and very large diurnal swings.  To elaborate, Arizona wine country sits at high elevations ranging between 3,500 to 5,000 feet above sea level. These altitudes bring 50-degree diurnal temperature swings in the summer months (consistent with many renowned growing regions). Come expand your palate and wine knowledge with an in-depth look into the soils, vines, weather and so much more that is elevating Arizona’s wine country.

From the moment we all started to learn about wine, we quickly learned that soils rule and in many cases rock. And in the case of the Rocks District in Oregon, they actually rock. Planted upon a river bed, the soils of this eastern Oregon AVA are reminiscent of the soils of Chateauneuf du Pape. The rolled stones make farming extremely difficult but the result, well, the result rocks. (Come on, you know we couldn’t let that opportunity go by.) This master class will dig deep into the distinctive geological features, climate zones and the science and art that make the Rocks District so distinctive.
