Rhône Wine Lovers to Unite in Paso Robles, California this April
Hospice du Rhône Announces the 2016 Paso Robles Installment

San Luis Obispo, Calif. USA—The rumors are true!  Hospice du Rhône, the international wine organization based in San Luis Obispo, California, has announced they will indeed hold the much celebrated three-day Paso Robles event April 14 – 16, 2016 at the Paso Robles Event Center.

Through the years, Hospice du Rhône has hosted diverse Rhône personalities from the world over, tasted attendees on wines found only at the Paso Robles Installment and have been a platform for experiences that shall always be remembered.  This mission will continue to ring true at the upcoming installment brimming with Rhône producers and enthusiasts alike from around the globe.

Tickets to attend the Paso Robles installment are now on-sale through the organizations website!  This weekend, dedicated to nothing but Rhônes, will include four in-depth educational seminars, two spirited tastings and three lively meals.  Guests may purchase a Weekend Pass to experience the full weekend or buy individual tickets to take in what their schedule allows.  Also available is a Tasty Twosome ticket which gives guests the opportunity to attend both The Opening (Friday, April 15) and The Closing tastings (Saturday, April 16) at a discount.

The Seminar Series will once again gather Rhône personalities to take the coveted stage. Jeb Dunnuck of the Wine Advocate will lead attendees through an exploration of the terroirs of Châteauneuf du Pape tasting wines from the famous rolled stone soils (galets roulés) along with wines from the more sand, clay and limestone dominated terroirs.  Taking a good look at Washington State is also on the docket.  Sharing their wines and viewpoints from the northwest state will be Todd Alexander of Force Majeure, Greg Harrington of Gramercy Cellars, Sean Boyd from Rôtie Cellars along with Bob Bertheau of Tenet Wines a collaboration with winemaker Michel Gassier and enology consultant, Philippe Cambie who will also be in attendance.

Heading to the southernmost portion of the Rhône Valley winegrowing region guests will embark on a white wine focused seminar with producers from Costières de Nîmes. The seminar will star Michel Gassier of Michel Gassier, Luc Baudet of Chateau Mas Neuf, François Collard of Château Mourgues du Grès and Diane De Puymorin of Château d’Or et de Gueules. Completing the 2016 Paso Robles Seminar Series will be a look at Syrah and Grenache from Paso Robles and Santa Barbara.  Leading this quest will be Jordan Fiorentini of Epoch Estate Wines, Russell From of Herman Story Wines, Trey Fletcher of Bien Nacido Estate and Chris Hammell of Hammell Wine Alliance. Moderating this lively seminar will be Matt Kettmann of Wine Enthusiast. Full Seminar Series details may be found at

The journey continues with over 140 global Rhône wine producers sharing their wines at both The Opening and The Closing tastings.  The Opening Tasting will focus on Rhône wines from the 2011 vintage and older where the The Closing Tasting will feature Rhône wines from the 2012 vintage and newer.  This tasting format gives each guests a two-day opportunity to taste how gracefully the producers’ wines age and what to expect in the future.  A list of all attending Rhône wine producers and importers may be found on the organizations website.

This Rhônely installment would not be complete without exquisite culinary comrades taking to the stove.  Guests will delight in cuisine from Chef John Toulze of the girl & the fig of Sonoma, California at an invite-only welcome reception, the refreshing fare of Chef Spencer Johnston of Danior Catering of San Luis Obispo, California for the Rosé Lunch, and the BBQ masters from The Hitching Post II from Buellton, California at the Saturday Farewell BBQ.
